Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Logistics Associate, you execute daily sort floor functions inside our fulfillment center with a systems-level understanding of how each task connects to the broader operational chain — applying that understanding to make better real-time decisions, catch upstream errors before they create downstream failures, and communicate operational intelligence to supervisors that less experienced associates simply do not notice.

• Systems-Aware Sort Execution: Execute primary sort floor functions — unloading, sorting, loading — with active awareness of how your individual production rate and accuracy affect downstream belt velocity, chute overflow risk, and outbound trailer departure readiness, proactively adjusting your work pace and flagging anomalies to your supervisor before they compound into sort-wide problems.
• Operational Communication: Report equipment irregularities, volume accumulation warnings, staffing shortfalls, and any deviation from the shift plan to your area supervisor in specific, actionable terms — not vague concern but precise observation with a location ID, a time stamp, and a recommended immediate response.
• Cross-Functional Process Support: Assist in cross-functional sort floor transitions — covering a chute position when a sorter breaks, supporting a trailer loader at the end of a tight departure window, or inducting a backlog of manually scanned packages when the scan audit team is behind — demonstrating the operational flexibility that defines a logistics associate versus a single-function handler.
